On a blustery Friday evening, a few families scuttle together bringing with them home-cooked food in familiar foil trays. Children try excitedly to break free from their seatbelts in wild anticipation of meeting their friends. The hosts are immersed in a quick makeover from a week-long work routine to a weekend retreat.

The children are taken downstairs where treasured coloring books and crayons await their masterful artistry. The adults gather in the family room above as the man in the saffron robes begins to slowly raise the tempo of his kartals and rhythmic chanting. It reaches a crescendo that leaves the guests crying for more and the hosts intermittently glancing around the windows to check if the neighbors are not being disturbed.

The class begins. Verse after verse from the ancient and timeless text of the Bhagavad-gita are recited, notated, discussed, and internalized. Everyone feels charged with a new perspective to life. There is a greater appreciation for everything one has received with a firmer understanding of the Source and His infinite opulences. The little ones appear almost magically with glee and a feeling of accomplishment as they run toward their parents with brightly colored pictures of the Lord in His pastimes. That’s also the signal for a sumptuous prasadam that is beckoning.
This was more than twenty years ago.
Starting with a humble few, the families and their eagerness led to the establishment of the Radha Shyamasundara Temple, ISKCON Naperville under the purview of the parent organization founded by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabupada. In a short time the few families grew to a congregation of 15-20 families, to what we are today. We continue to serve the community regardless of nationality, caste, or religion with the undeterred focus of education in the science of Krishna consciousness. We are committed to serving your spiritual needs and encourage you to visit us in person.

Despite the advancement of Science and Technology man has not solved the problems of birth, disease, old age and death. As we all know, technological advancements are simply creating more mental distress, depression and complexities in our lives. Our children are also victims of this environment. Study of Bhagavad-gita can address the solutions to all the problems of life as confirmed by world renowned personalities like Einstein, Thoreau and Gandhi. It is most relevant in the modern era. Our goal has been to teach the message of Gita to the children to help them to get in touch with the Divine instructions of Lord Krishna that can benefit the soul eternally. Bhagavad-gita is a science and, as the Lord explains in BG 9.2, this knowledge can be practically experienced and is verifiable.

During Gita Camp, children learn the message of Bhagavad-gita through interactive power point presentations, reciprocal chanting, kirtans, bhajans, dramas, musical instruments, hearing stories, cooking classes, etc. in the association of children of their own age group. Our Gita Camp keeps growing every year. Registration details will be posted on the website as they become available each year or contact us.

SoulConnection Youth Program – This is an active group of youth in their teens who have graduated from our Veda Vyasa School and have consistently participated in Gita Camp. Because of the training they have received throughout their formative years, these young adults have great enthusiasm and a deep desire to enhance their own spiritual life and extend the same to others. Their goal is to inspire, train and empower youth in Krishna consciousness based on the spiritual values taught by ISKCON’s Founder Acharya A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

Their aim is to create a network of exemplary youth who have found their identity in today’s competitive society. They meet weekly for scriptural studies and to brainstorm ideas on how to utilize their talents in serving the community and applying the principles of service in their own lives while enriching those of others. The SoulConnection group sessions are open to youth up to 18 years of age. To learn more please visit

Classes for various activities like reading groups, training in kirtan are offered in a community setting for childern. Childern often build lasting relationships with each other and the facilitator through heart-felt sharing of how understanding and applying scriptural philosophy might have transformed their own lives in ways that are small or significant.

For the convenience of childern, these sessions are offered at a variety of days, times, and locations throughout the week.
